QUESTION

ANSWER

1

Can I apply for MBSJ to cut down trees in front of my house?

Residents can only apply for MBSJ to cut down trees maintained by the Council.

Trees planted by residents themselves or planted by any previous residents must be maintained by the residents themselves with the costs fully borne by the residents.

Otherwise, a cleaning and disposal operation of private trees will be carried out without notice at any time by the Council.

2

Can residents plant trees in front of their houses?

Residents must state their wishes in an official letter to the Landscape Department for further consideration and any costs of construction and maintenance of the landscape or garden are the responsibility of the resident without involving any costs from the Council and residents or any party cannot claim any compensation if an accident or disaster occurs caused by the construction of the landscape itself.

3

Can MBSJ cut down trees on the factory premises?

The Council does not entertain any applications for tree cutting from any private premises such as factories, schools/educational institutions or under the maintenance of certain parties such as Joint Management Bodies (JMB) or MC.

4

Can I get the phone number of the MBSJ vendor for tree cutting?

Yes, residents need to contact the contractor directly and obtain the contractor's phone number from any staff at the MBSJ Landscape Department. However, the Council will not be responsible for any misconduct or integrity violations involving Council staff due to residents' dealings with the MBSJ contractor.

5

Why is tree maintenance not done on a schedule or according to the condition of the tree that is about to fall and does the MBSJ wait until the tree has fallen before cutting it down?

The Council is always proactive in ensuring that the MBSJ township is always safe and orderly. The frequency of maintenance of amenity trees depends on the condition of the tree. If the tree is dead and leaning, pruning or felling will be carried out immediately according to priority.

6

Why does tree cutting work take a long time to be carried out?

The maintenance work on amenity trees takes a long time because the list of trees that have been complained about is long, in addition to the condition of the trees and the weather to carry out tree maintenance activities involving logistics and public safety such as skylifts, lorries, cranes and so on.

7

When is the fixed date for landscaping work such as tree waste collection and tree trimming to be completed?

It usually takes less than 3 months but is subject to certain circumstances and sufficient financial allocation for the current year.
