SELANGOR STATE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ENACTMENT.
The Freedom of Information Enactment (State of Selangor) 2011 was enacted with the objective of enhancing the disclosure of information in the public interest and providing every individual with the opportunity to access information from State Government Departments through applications submitted to the relevant Department. This Enactment was gazetted on 25 August 2011 and came into force on 5 March 2013, with the consent of His Royal Highness the Sultan of Selangor. Also coming into force on the same date were two (2) subsidiary laws made by the State Authority to support the provisions of this Enactment, namely the Freedom of Information (State of Selangor) (Access to Information) Regulations 2012 and the State Information Board (State of Selangor) Rules 2012.
Any member of the public or external organization wishing to obtain information from any State Government Department may do so by complying with the following procedures:-
1. | Fill in and complete the Application Form to Obtain Information as attached below;

2. | Submit the completed Application Form to Obtain Information by hand to the relevant Department together with a payment of RM12.00 (Ringgit Malaysia: Twelve Only), comprising RM2 for the application fee and RM10 for the non-refundable processing fee deposit;

3. | The Information Officer appointed for each Department will process the submitted application and provide a response within 30 days from the date of acknowledgement of receipt for ordinary applications, or within seven (7) days from the date of acknowledgement of receipt if the application involves the life or liberty of an individual; and
|
4. | If the application is approved, the applicant must pay the balance of the processing fee (if applicable) and will receive access to the requested information through the appropriate method of access; and
|
5. | If the application is rejected, the applicant may submit an appeal to the State Information Board within 21 days from the date of receipt of the decision. |
